Arif Dalvi MD, MBA, is Director of the Comprehensive Movement Disorders Program at Palm Beach Neuroscience Institute, Director of the St. Mary's Medical Center Memory Disorders Center and Physician Chief of the Movement Disorder Program at Delray Medical Center. He is fellowship trained in Parkinson's disease from Columbia University, NY, and was Director of the neurology residency program at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. He has conducted research for over 20-years on the medical and surgical and treatment of Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, dystonia and essential tremor. His research interests include deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson’s disease and tremor, nerve growth factors (GDNF) for Parkinson's disease and novel imaging studies for Alzheimer's dementia. He is currently involved with applications of focused ultrasound in Parkinson's disease and other neurological conditions. He is a member of the Parkinson Study Group and serves on the advisory board of the International Essential Tremor Foundation. He has received a Doctor of Excellence Award from the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. Dr. Dalvi was nominated as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and received the Palm Beach Medical Society Hero of Medicine award for 2018. Dr. Dalvi is a board-certified neurologist and has conducted research for more than 20-years on the surgical and pharmaceutical treatments of Parkinson’s disease. His research interests have included novel treatments such as deep brain stimulation and nerve growth factors, e.g. glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) for Parkinson’s disease. He has also worked on clinical trials for many of the recently FDA approved drugs for Parkinson’s disease as well as on the study of genetic factors in Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Dalvi has published widely on Parkinson’s disease in a number of peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Neurosurgery, Annals of Neurology and Movement Disorders. He also has published book chapters on Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson-plus syndromes, tremor disorders, normal pressure hydrocephalus and dystonia.

I arrived at the doctors office a little before before my appointment and they took me early. As soon as the nurse took me in, she took my vitals and then a short time after that the PA came in had a good discussion with the PA and about 10 minutes later, Dr. Dalvi came in. He asked if I had any questions about the surgeries and then he started to turn on the Medtronic DBS generator. Once the current was blowing through me, he asked how I was feeling, although it was very hard to describe it. He said they would be many Visits with adjustments to get it to where we need to be. Overall iit was a very positive experience and I'm looking forward to the next visit .
