Admission Policies

Thank you for your interest in our Radiologic Technology program at Palm Beach Health Network.

The application process starts with the completion of the school application. The process continues with a general aptitude exam that covers basic math, English, natural sciences, and a personality profile section. The testing should take approximately three hours. Each individual will receive their test scores and a letter stating whether the individual met the minimum test requirements. For those that meet these requirements, they will proceed in the application process.

There is limited enrollment. Acceptance into the program will be based on the completed application, general aptitude exam and the successful completion of a hospital physical. Students will also have to complete a CPR training program before acceptance into the program.

The second step is to perform an eight-hour observation tour from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This must be performed at one of the school’s clinical sites and the hours cannot be broken down into two shifts or performed on the weekends. The tour will expose the applicant to the same clinical setting as students of this program and they will be able to meet current students who will be able to answer your questions. During this tour, you will also have a professional interview with the clinical Instructor of that clinical site. Due to limited patient contact and exposure, professional attire is required.

The remaining application process will consist of interviewing with the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator.

The applicant’s test score and interview scores will be computed to formulate the applicants point total. The applicants with the highest point total will be selected. The remaining applicants will be placed in a ranking order. If a candidate drops out or is de-matriculated prior to two weeks before school begins, the individual listed as first alternate will be called to fill the vacancy.

There are some considerations to think about prior to making such a commitment. The equipment that Radiologic Technologists use is quite heavy at times. If you have any type of back injury or cannot stand for long periods of time, you need to reconsider if this is a career for you. Students must be able to think clearly and logically, make valid judgments and act effectively in stressful situations. Students must possess the ability to perceive events realistically, think rationally and function independently in routine and emergency situations. Students must be able to communicate to others in a clear, meaningful manner, in both written and oral forms. Students must speak and interact effectively with patients and other members of the health care team in the judgment of clinical instructors.

Once accepted into the program, the student must have a health physical done which includes meeting the technical standards/physical abilities that must be performed as part of the entrance requirement.

In addition, for your convenience, our pregnancy policy is available to every female student, located in our student handbook. Furthermore, the program does NOT accept transfer students from other radiology programs or credit courses taken at other hospital base programs or college programs.

If you have any questions concerning the program, please feel free to call (561) 488-8173. Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
