MRI Safety

The Palm Beach Health Network School of Radiologic Technology has a safety screening protocol for students having potential access to the magnetic resonance department. This helps ensure that the students are appropriately screened for magnetic wave and radio-frequency hazards.

Prior to starting the clinical experience in MRI, the students attend a lecture given by the MRI supervisor and are taught MRI safety practices. The students then complete an MRI screening form which is reviewed by the MRI supervisor and program director. If there are any questions or concerns regarding their safety due to potential dangers of implants or foreign bodies, the program medical advisor will review their case and make a determination of their ability to safely participate in the MRI department.
