Palm Beach Health Network Observes Lung Cancer Month, National Lung Cancer Screening Day with Special Event on November 9 and Free Educational Opportunities
Nov 11, 2024In recognition of Lung Cancer Awareness Month and National Lung Cancer Screening Day, Palm Beach Health Network is offering a dedicated screening event on Saturday, November 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at select locations across Palm Beach County. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and provide accessible lung cancer screenings to those at risk.
Lung cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths, and early detection is crucial for successful treatment outcomes. The Palm Beach Health Network’s Lung Cancer Screening Program offers a comprehensive approach, including a consultation and personalized risk assessment, as well as a painless, low-dose CT scan. Patients can also benefit from ongoing communication with their referring physicians to ensure a coordinated approach to their health.
Who Should Consider Screening?
You may be eligible for this screening if you:
- Are between the ages of 50-80 (or 55-77 for Medicare Part B)
- Are a current smoker or have quit within the past 15 years
- Have a smoking history of at least 20 pack-years (calculated as packs per day x years of smoking)
Screenings will be available at the following Palm Beach Health Network locations:
- West Palm Beach – Victor Farris Building, 1411 N. Flagler Dr.
- Delray Beach – Palm Court Plaza, 5130 Linton Blvd.
- Royal Palm Beach – 440 N. State Road 7

To schedule a screening, call 561-567-PBHN (7246). Please note that a prescription is required for the screening, and a cash option is available for those not covered by insurance.
Free lung cancer education event:
- Lung Cancer Awareness Discussion:On November 8th from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the South County Civic Center located at 16700 Jog Road, Delray Beach. Palm Beach Health Network will host a free educational session covering the signs, symptoms, and treatment options for lung cancer. The speaker is pulmonologist Dr. Stephen Milan.
