From WPBF 25 News: 'Stay hydrated': Palm Beach County residents seek ways to stay cool in extreme heat

As temperatures continue to climb, doctors are warning people to take care of themselves and monitor their time in the heat.

“Heat exhaustion, the individual comes over to you, they'll be very sweaty still. They might have, like, a generalized type of weakness. They could have a little bit of nausea in comparison to the individuals that have the heat stroke, the bad one. You'll see that there's a change in mental status. That's one. You'll be talking to them and they’re talking nonsensical,” Dr. Joseph Oliva, an emergency medicine physician at #PalmBeachGardensMedicalCenter, said.

Assistant nurse manager Amanda Bass said they’ve already seen an increased number of heat-related cases in the ER and also has tips, so people don’t end up in one of their hospital beds.

“You have to stay hydrated, find shade, stay out of the sun when you can, take frequent breaks, and most importantly, stay hydrated,” Bass said.
