Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Completes Its First Aquablation Procedure
Dec 10, 2025Milestone marks another advancement in minimally invasive urologic care
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is announcing the completion of its first Aquablation procedure, a minimally invasive operation to treat enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The landmark procedure was performed by Sean L. Sawh, MD, FACS, a surgical urologist on staff at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.
Aquablation therapy is an innovative treatment for lower urinary tract symptoms caused by BPH. Using the AquaBeam Robotic System, this approach integrates real-time, multi-dimensional imaging with automated robotic precision and a heat-free waterjet to remove excess prostate tissue. The technology is designed to deliver consistent, predictable results regardless of prostate size, anatomy, or surgeon experience.
Dr. Sawh said the procedure represents a major step forward for patients seeking effective relief with minimally invasive techniques.
“Aquablation therapy allows us to treat BPH with remarkable accuracy while preserving quality of life,” said Dr. Sean Sawh. “We are excited to bring this advanced technology to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center and to offer our patients a treatment option that is both precise and tailored to their individual needs.”
Hospital CEO Erik Cazares praised the accomplishment and the team behind it.
“This milestone reflects our continuous effort to expaand access to advanced, patient-centered care,” said Erik Cazares, CEO of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. “We are proud of Dr. Sawh and our OR team for bringing this innovative therapy to our community and enhancing the high-quality urologic care we deliver every day.
