ICYMI from WPBF 25 News

Cardiologist Dr. Zach Deutch joined the TV station to discuss Holiday Heart Syndrome, explaining what it is, its warning signs and what to do if you suspect you or a loved one might be experiencing it.

"Holiday Heart Syndrome is essentially atrial arrhythmia, irregular heartbeats that occur when people have usually drunk a significant amount," he said. "It's called Holiday Heart Syndrome because these are things that are associated with people drinking through the holidays, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year's."

Deutch advises moderation, recommending "one glass a day of alcohol for a woman and two glasses of alcohol, or standard drinks a day for a male."
