West Palm Beach, FL—February 2nd, 2026 – As we settle into the New Year and kick off February’s American Heart Month, now is the perfect time to set or revisit your goals for the year. With that in mind, Palm Beach Health Network is encouraging our community to make heart health a priority, including regular heart screenings(more details on our free heart screening options below).
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of men and women in America, but there are ways we can reduce or eliminate our risk of developing it, such as exercising and eating a healthy diet.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 805,000 Americans suffer a heart attack each year. The most common symptom of a heart attack for both men and women is chest pain or discomfort. However, women are more likely to have atypical symptoms. Other heart attack symptoms include, but are not limited to, tingling or discomfort in one or both arms, back, shoulder, neck or jaw, shortness of breath, cold sweat, unusual tiredness, heartburn-like feeling, nausea or vomiting, sudden dizziness, and fainting.
Heart Month represents a great time to make sure you are up to date on your health screenings. Screenings and check-ups that are often covered by insurance can alert you to health conditions that need addressing sooner rather than later. From knowing your numbers for heart health to a mammogram or colonoscopy, early detection may prevent complications down the road.

The Palm Beach Health Network is offering complimentary events and screenings to promote heart health, starting with National Go Red Day on February 6th, when all Palm Beach Health Network staff will be wearing red. Below is what to expect throughout the rest of the month:
Florida Coast Medical Center
- 5th -Heart Matters Screening, testing blood pressure, diabetes, body mass index and cholesterol levels in Florida Coast’s lobby from 8am to 10am
Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center
- Every Sunday - The Gardens GreenMarket – Blood Pressure Screenings 8am-1pm - 10500 N Military Trail.
- 4th -Mended Hearts at Palm Beach Gardens peer-support group for patients with cardiovascular disease from 9am to 10am in the Outpatient Rehabilitation Center (2503 Burns Road, Palm Beach Gardens, FL).
- 25th – Heart Matters Screening, testing blood pressure, diabetes, body mass index and cholesterol levels from 9am to 11am.
Delray Medical Center
- 26th – Heart Matters Screening for Heart Valve Awareness Day, testing blood pressure, diabetes, body mass index and cholesterol levels in Delray Medical Center’s lobby from 9am to 11am.
West Boca Medical Center
- 7th Community Health Screenings, checking blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose from 8am to 11am.
Emergency Center Lake Worth
- Feb 18th - Heart Matters Screenings, testing blood pressure, diabetes, body mass index and cholesterol levels.
Emergency Center West Palm Beach
- Feb 12th – Community Health Fair, receive a complimentary health screening, including for healthy weight, blood pressure and glucose levels. Attendees will also learn how to improve balance and reduce fall risk at home from 11am to 1pm.
