Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center Introduces Next-Generation da Vinci 5 Surgical System
Jun 9, 2026PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL– June 8th, 2026 - Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center is elevating its surgical capabilities with the acquisition of the Intuitive da Vinci 5® surgical system, the most advanced platform in robotic-assisted, minimally invasive surgery. This latest investment reinforces the hospital’s commitment to delivering innovative, high-quality care to patients across Palm Beach County.

The da Vinci 5 represents the newest evolution in Intuitive’s portfolio, building upon the success of previous systems including the da Vinci X®, Xi®, and SP®. Designed to enhance precision, efficiency, and clinical insight, the system supports a wide range of procedures, including urologic, gynecologic, thoracic, and general surgeries.
“At Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, we continue to invest in technologies that give our patients access to the very best in surgical care, close to home,” said Erik Cazares, CEO of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. “The addition of the da Vinci 5 system allows our surgeons to operate with greater precision and control, helping to improve outcomes and support faster recoveries for our patients.”
“With the da Vinci 5, we’re able to take minimally invasive surgery to the next level,” said Dr. Hayder Al-Azzawi, colorectal surgeon at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. “The enhanced visualization and precision allows us to perform complex procedures with greater confidence, which can translate to less pain, smaller incisions, and quicker recoveries for our patients.”
With more than 150 enhancements, the da Vinci 5 system introduces significant advancements over previous generations. The platform features Force Feedback technology to help surgeons better gauge the amount of pressure applied to tissue, enhanced 3D visualization with greater clarity and color accuracy, and improved ergonomics for surgeon comfort during complex procedures.
In addition, the system delivers unprecedented computing power, more than 10,000 times that of the da Vinci Xi, enabling real-time data and insights that can further refine surgical performance and efficiency. As with all da Vinci systems, surgeons remain fully in control, translating their hand movements into highly precise motions using robotic-assisted instruments.
This next-generation system is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing surgical workflows while providing the flexibility to incorporate future advancements. With the addition of the da Vinci 5, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center continues to strengthen its position as a leader in advanced surgical care in South Florida.
