Target MRI Fusion Prostate Biopsy

Prostate health is at the forefront of urologic care at Palm Beach Health Network. Detecting it usually entails a biopsy of the prostate when the surgeon suspects an issue.  Historically, finding the exact location of cancer in a prostate gland has been a challenge. Conventional TRUS prostate biopsy techniques are referred to as “blind” biopsies since physicians typically cannot easily view the specific location of any abnormal tissue. Targeted MRI/Ultrasound Fusion biopsies are one of the latest technologies available in the detection and management of prostate cancer. Now, using the Artemis 3D imaging and navigation system, our team is able to better identify and more accurately biopsy suspicious prostate cancer areas.

Da Vinci Xi Robotics Assisted System

In addition to the prostate, our surgeons also perform urologic procedures of the bladder, kidneys, adrenal glands or ureters, robotically with the Da Vinci Xi robot.  The Da Vinci Xi robot allows our robotically trained surgeons to perform complex urologic procedures using minimally invasive techniques. As a result, our patients receive the highest quality of care and surgical outcomes for any of their urologic needs.

Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Our program treats both men and women suffering from bladder and bowel incontinence and/or pain in the pelvic region. Pelvic floor muscles may become weak, tight or spastic, as a result of disease, surgery, childbirth or other trauma.

Treatment options include:

  • Strengthening exercises
  • Pelvic floor muscle stimulation
  • Biofeedback for muscle training
  • Internal and/or external therapeutic massage and myofascial release
  • Education in bladder retraining, dietary irritants and relaxation techniques
  • Development of an individualized home exercise plan

A physician’s prescription is required for physical therapy. Pelvic floor rehabilitation is covered by most insurance companies.

ProACT™ Technology

Palm Beach Health Network and Dr. Antonio Beltran, Urologist is now using the ProACT™ technology from URO-MEDICA. The ProACT™ system is implanted within the body to assist protection against accidental urine leakage.

The ProACT™, Adjustable Continence Therapy for Men consists of two small, adjustable silicone balloons each connected with tubing to a port. The balloons are placed where the prostate was removed or resected. The fluid-filled balloons apply pressure to and support the bladder neck, which helps prevent accidental leakage of urine. The ports are placed just below the skin in the patients’ scrotum allowing the physician to adjust the balloon to meet the patients’ individual needs.
