Delray Medical Center and St. Mary's Medical Center are the only two state-designated Level I Trauma Centers in Palm Beach County. These two centers provide specialized hospital care and rehabilitation for trauma victims. This means that our trauma team, composed of award-winning surgeons, specially-trained nurses, anesthesiologists and additional specialists, works with patients through the entire spectrum of a traumatic injury, including prevention education and rehabilitation. Our trauma center works around the clock to deliver prompt, high quality care for patients in critical condition resulting from a serious fall, motor vehicle accident or a violent altercation. We are part of Palm Beach County’s Trauma System which is overseen by the Health Care District of Palm Beach County.
The Health Care District’s Trauma Hawk Aeromedical Program provides lifesaving care and rapid transport to critically ill and injured patients. For patients that need additional follow-up planning, we also provide more specialized treatment through our trauma clinic. Our team includes board-certified emergency physicians, dedicated nurses certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support and experienced technicians, as well as specialty surgeons and consultants on call.
