Anne’s NICU Story

Anne and Alissa, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit NICU Mom and Patient, St. Mary’s Medical Center

There is already plenty to plan for when you are becoming a mom and your baby arriving early is not part of that planning process.

At 24 weeks pregnant Anne was not expecting to be meeting her baby any time soon but Anne suffered from severe preeclampsia. Her daughter, Alissa arrived weighing just 1 pound, 1 ounce. Alissa spent 6 months in the NICU at St. Mary’s Medical Center before she was ready to go home. In many cases time does fly but 6 months away from your baby does not go quickly.

It was a long road, but Alissa is thriving. She is a year and 4 months old and mom reports, “she is a super healthy and beautiful baby girl. She has four teeth, she is pulling herself up and holding onto things, nearly ready to walk.” She is hitting all the right milestones.

Anne says, “My baby girl is a warrior!!!”
