About Arun Hariharan
Dr. Arun Hariharan joined Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute in October 2022. He is a double fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon with particular expertise in pediatric spine surgery. In addition to the broad scope of pediatric orthopedics, his main passions are in caring for children with various spine-related conditions and in treating fractures in children. Dr. Hariharan attended medical school at the University of Michigan and completed his orthopedic residency at University of Maryland. He further pursued his interests in pediatric orthopedics by completing a pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at the Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children. In order to further advance his spine surgery skillset, he traveled to Auckland, New Zealand to train at the Starship Children’s Hospital for a pediatric spine fellowship. In addition to writing numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, Dr. Hariharan has also presented at various national conferences. He was awarded the Russel A. Hibbs Best Clinical Research Paper Award and the Louis A. Goldstein Best Clinical Research Poster Paper Award at the Spine Research Society Meeting in 2020. Conditions treated include the whole array of pediatric orthopedics including fractures. In particular, he focuses on spinal conditions in children such as scoliosis, kyphosis, and spondylolisthesis. He is a firm believer in evidence-based medicine and technology in providing the most up to date care possible for children. In addition to spinal fusion procedures, he offers growth “friendly” techniques such as Vertebral Body Tethering and MAGEC rods. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife, son, and their dogs. Dr. Hariharan is an avid Michigan Football and Basketball fan.

Everyone was very polite and accommodating. The nurse took extra care to provide us the image CD, despite the fact that the ink on CD burner was not working. All the staff were amazing, in particular Dr Hariharun, he was extremely thoughtful and genuinely concerned for our daughters condition. His office has been invaluable in scheduling appointments to get this taken care of efficiently without stress for Kaili. We're very grateful for everyone involved. Also, the nurse that takes care of kid's feelings, Kaylee, was super nice. Love that feature if your hospital.

Dr. Hariharan performed Hannah's surgery in June 2022, prior to joining the Paley Institute. I am so confident in his expertise that I drove 2.5 hours from Naples just so Hannah could see him for her 6-month follow up. I would happily recommend him to anyone considering scoliosis surgery. He's one of the best.

Dr. Hariharan has always been very responsive via email, and his assistant Yesenia was a pleasure to work with in scheduling Hannah's appointment. I really like the portal and ease of access to Hannah's records.

We arrived a few minutes early and were almost immediately called in for Hannah's x-ray. Our appointment time was 11:30 and I believe we were called in to see Dr. Hariharan at around 11:32.
