It is a parent’s worst nightmare when their child ends up in the Intensive Care Unit. Whether your child is being admitted because of a major surgery, an accident or another health-related incident, you are counting on the ICU staff to deliver your child back to you. The Palm Beach Health Network takes that role very seriously.
Sometimes your child may need to spend several days to several months in the ICU. Spending any amount of time in the ICU can be challenging. But our team is committed to making your child feel at home and cared for.

Pediatric Critical Care Transport
Getting your child to the right doctor
In the event that a critically ill child requires treatment at our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Palm Beach Children’s Hospital has a transport team that is ready to receive patients via ground or air emergency transport.
Our Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team consists of a critical care respiratory therapist, a pediatric critical care RN or ARNP and EMTs with training in transport care, including patient stabilization and resuscitation.
Ground Transport
Palm Beach Children’s Hospital will arrive with a dedicated ambulance, allowing for efficient transport for pediatric patients from referring facilities. During a transfer, our pediatric critical care transport team remains in contact with hospital-based physicians to help ensure a smooth transition into care upon arriving at our hospital.
Air Transport
In partnership with the Health Care District of Palm Beach County’s Trauma Hawk, we provide air transportation if a severely ill or injured child needs acute care at our hospital.
