Most patients spend 1 night in the hospital and some may need to stay in the hospital for 2 nights.

For patients who have undergone gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, the average time to return to work is two weeks. Time off work may vary depending on the type of work you do. Your weight-loss surgeon will discuss your individual situation with you.

After bariatric surgery long-term success depends on making healthy changes, such as eating smaller, nutritious meals, slowing down while eating, exercising regularly, taking vitamins and using your bariatric team for ongoing support and monitoring.
