Located on the campus of Delray Medical Center, the Surgical Weight Loss Program specializes in multi-disciplinary care, and our experienced team offers some of the most effective procedures available for surgical weight loss in South Florida including: adjustable gastric band, gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. All surgeries are done laparoscopically and some robotically. We also offer management of existing bariatric patients to include lap band adjustments and revisional and conversional surgery.

Weight loss surgery is recommended for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) equal to or greater than 35, regardless of presence, absence, or severity of co-morbidities. Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding with the Lap Band® is also FDA-approved for weight loss surgery in people with a BMI of 30 to 35 who have at least one obesity¬related condition. Weight loss surgery is considered safe, but like many types of surgery, it does have risks. Consult with your physician about the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery. • BMI of 40 or greater consistent for the past five years. 
• BMI of 35 or greater with any of the medically treated co-morbidities listed (insurance requirements may vary):
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Sleep apnea
• Failure of other measures to lose weight, such as:
  • Medications
  • Weight loss programs
  • Dietary changes
• Acceptable surgical risk
• Ability to understand lifestyle changes and motivation to comply with program guidelines
• Absence of medical/psychological contraindications
